Once the plastic channel had been removed, the gasket
fit much better, and looked better too. I removed the plastic
channel, by cutting it along the inside edge of the window pane and removing the
inside and outside pieces. My only concern with doing this is that the glass
will now be sealed directly to the outside aluminum channel, and may be subject
to more shock and vibration as the trailer is towed. We shall see.....
Update: August, 2005: So far, no leaks or broken panes.
