There will be a LOT of very small pieces of glass
produced. I protected the area by laying a drop cloth on the floor and over any
furniture in the area. I then used masking tape (that's the blue stuff you see
in the photo) to tape a piece of plastic to
the sill around the window. Clean up often! No matter how careful you are, you
will still have tiny pieces of broken glass everywhere. I used a "Shop Vac" type vacuum
cleaner. Cleaning up lots of glass my be rough on a normal home-type of vacuum
cleaner.
